Spider-Man: Homecoming - Possible New Details On The Tinkerer’s Role!

When any details on a movie’s storyline come out, they have to be considered spoilers for the particular movie. This post’s title makes it clear that I've come across some new details on Spider-Man: Homecoming, doesn’t it? So it’s my duty to sound the SPOILER ALERT alarm right away. Okay, now let’s get started!

Yesterday, we got the confirmation that Orange Is the New Black star Michael Chernus is set to appear in Spider-Man: Homecoming as Phineas Mason, aka the Tinkerer. Now, folks at Heroic Hollywood have gotten their hands on some pretty interesting details about how the character may come into play in the Jon Watts venture.

According to their sources, the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Tinkerer was once an employee at Stark Industries. But a few years ago, he was “personally fired” by Robert Downey, Jr.’s Tony Stark for some unknown reason.

Chernus’ character believes that Stark made a mistake by letting him go. And in an attempt to prove that, he will provide tech to not only the Vulture, but also to the Shocker.

This is all they’ve got at this point, but it seems enough to connect some previous reports and rumors related to Spider-Man: Homecoming.

The rumor about the Tinkerer’s appearance in the July 7, 2017 release that was dropped a couple of months back suggested that he would help the Vulture build his suit, using the Chitauri tech he salvaged from the Battle of New York. So, this new rumor pretty much aligns with that one.

It also supports the recent report claiming that the Shocker, portrayed by Fargo star Bokeem Woodbine, will appear in Spider-Man: Homecoming. And the Tinkerer, being an ex-Stark employee, justifies the presence of Robert Downey, Jr.’s character in the movie. He surely isn’t there just to binge on Aunt May’s walnut date loaves!
