Singer Nabiyah Be confirms portraying Nightshade in Black Panther!

We already know that baddies Ulysses Klaue (Andy Serkis), Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan), and Man-Ape (Winston Duke) are all set to appear in Ryan Coogler's Black Panther. The most recent addition to the list is criminal mastermind Tilda Johnson, aka Nightshade. Singer/actress Nabiyah Be will play the part.

Be actually appeared in the first Black Panther trailer, but the quick glimpse went largely unnoticed. However, she shared a screenshot from the trailer via her Twitter account of herself as Nightshade and Jordan as Killmonger, with the caption:

Never kept something to myself for so long! Check out Tilda Johnson’s first appearance in @Marvel @theblackpanther #blackpanther #Wakanda

Nightshade was created by Steve Englehart and Alan Lee Weiss, and made her Marvel Comics debut in the August 1973 issue Captain America #164. A genius scientist with expertise in genetics, biochemistry, cybernetics, robotics, and physics, she was originally introduced as Cap’s nemesis, but she’s had encounters with other superheroes, including Luke Cage and Black Panther.

Nightshade once created a chemical serum that she used to transform regular people into werewolves, and her body secretes chemical pheromones that help her control the werewolves, along with certain animals. It remains to be seen whether this is an indication that we’ll see a Marvel Cinematic Universe full of werewolves.

The comic book version of Nightshade was from Harlem, but we can't be sure that Coogler won’t shift things around in Black Panther and introduce her as a Wakandan. At this point, we can only be certain that she’ll work with Jordan's character in the February 16, 2018 release.
