Simon Kinberg Talks Deadpool 2, Gambit, and Apocalypse

Simon Kinberg talks about the future X-Men movies

In a recent interview with Collider, Simon Kinberg talks about the Fox superhero movies scheduled for release. And not only that, he also talked about X-Men: Apocalypse. According to the producer (who still hopes for a Fantastic Four sequel), the latest X-Men installment wasn't a disappointment.

How come? Simon Kinberg explains that the X-Men movies have never been very successful in the first place. In a way, according to him, Days of Future Past was Fox's version of the Avengers. So having X-Men: Apocalypse struggling to reach $550 million worldwide is actually a success.

But is it, really? The movie was made for $178 million, without the marketing costs. As a comparison, Deadpool was $58 million and made $778 million by the end of its run. So is Fox actually satisfied with the X-Men: Apocalypse returns?!?

Simon Kinberg also says that the writers are working on the Deadpool sequel right now, with shooting expected to start in early 2017. So the Merc with a Mouth will most likely come back in 2018. Which is great; we wouldn't want it to be rushed or anything.

According to Kinberg, the studio actually wants to see the Gambit flick released. And, again, we are asking: Really? Haven't they had enough postponements already? Haven't they realized that these second tier characters do better with average budgets? Don't they already know that the fans don't really care about it?

Lastly, as far as the next X-Men movie is concerned, Simon Kinberg offers no update. Just like he hasn’t said anything about the New Mutants flick. And this makes us wonder - is that Marvel-Fox deal rumor actually possible?

After all, Simon Kinberg does say that the studio hasn't figured out what to do next with the X-Men"¦

And this is ludicrous, considering that these kinds of movies necessitate more and more time to plan, especially in the most recent years.
