Scarlett Johansson Talks Black Widow Solo Movie

Fans have demanded a Black Widow solo flick since the first Avengers movie dropped. Kevin Feige himself said that it would be made eventually, but we still haven't heard anything concrete about the project. Considering the fact that there is no way this solo flick could be squeezed into Phase III of the MCU, is there any chance that it will ever happen? We believe that it won't - at least, not with Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff.

During an interview about Ghost in the Shell, the actress told Total Film Magazine that a Black Widow solo film should be done, especially since this is a character with a rich history:

I've talked to Kevin Feige about it. We're creatively really compatible. I think we both agree that the character is right for a standalone.

However, the actress added that the MCU film roster is already huge, and the studio is planning ahead four years. And we should mention that only the return of Spider-Man has managed to make Marvel and Disney change these plans to any degree. Johansson said that it’s all about timing, for both Marvel and herself:

I think we both agree that the character is right for a standalone; it's just a case of timing at this point for both Marvel and myself.

There’s little to no chance that a Black Widow solo film will be announced for Marvel's Phase III - besides the number of movies already announced, this could be called the MCU’s galactic phase,  and it doesn't make any sense for a movie about a spy with no superpowers to be made right now.

But who knows? Maybe the studio is waiting to see how Ghost in the Shell performs at the box office.
