Phil Lord and Chris Miller praise the new director of The Flash movie, Rick Famuyiwa!

We all know that Seth Grahame-Smith's departure due to creative differences with Warner Bros. vacated the director's chair for The Flash movie, which was occupied shortly afterwards by Dope director Rick Famuyiwa. But what many might not know is that the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies author wasn't the first choice as director of the Scarlet Speedster's standalone movie.

The studio initially courted The Lego Movie directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller to helm The Flash movie. The duo even penned a treatment for the movie but eventually had to drop out due to their commitment to the untitled Han Solo Anthology movie.

Despite being no longer involved to the project, Lord and Miller seem to be genuinely excited about the way it is shaping up. In a recent interview with IGN, Lord calls the decision of hiring Rick Famuyiwa "the best", adding, “We worked with Rick, and have been developing a pilot with him for a little while, and are really big fans of his and Dope. I think he's a rad choice.”

Miller adds that the Nigerian-American director is "going to do a great job" on the project.

Many of the reporters who recently visited the set of Justice League were struck by how much levity Ezra Miller's character brought to the movie.

When the interviewer asks if Lord and Miller had any influence on that, the duo denies it. Miller claims that the studio had that planned for the character right from the beginning, which is why they were approached.

The dynamic The Flash is bringing to the Justice League is being compared with that brought to Captain America: Civil War by Spider-Man. Phil Lord and Chris Miller understand that comparison very well. Miller explains:

He brings in new energy. Batman has to be kind of bummed out because his parents died, and Superman is already established as a serious person, and Wonder Woman’s angry about stuff. Stuff’s happening. But then you’ve got a guy who’s like, “Eh, whatever, I run fast!”
