Martin Freeman's Everett Ross is indeed returning in Black Panther!

While Marvel Studios had no plans to let us know, the first batch of photos from the Black Panther set has made it clear that Martin Freeman will reprise his Captain America: Civil War character in the upcoming movie!

Ever since it was revealed that The Hobbit star would play Everett Ross in last year's Russo Brothers flick, many have been speculating about his return in Black Panther. This is because, following his introduction in Ka-Zar Vol. 4, #17 in 1998, the character has been primarily depicted in the comics as an ally of the Wakandan king.

But Marvel seemed reluctant to offer an official response to the speculation, even as they proudly announced the addition of stars like Michael B. Jordan, Forest Whitaker, and Sterling K. Brown to the cast roster of next year's Ryan Coogler flick. Freeman did seem to suggest in an interview last May that he would appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the future, but he didn't mention a specific installment.

However, Just Jared has released a bunch of photos from the set of Black Panther that not only confirms that the movie has kicked off production, but also that Martin Freeman has joined the cast. The 45-year-old British actor was spotted filming "a UN meeting scene" for the February 16, 2018 release.

The other actors on the set included lead actor Chadwick Boseman, The Walking Dead star Danai Gurira, and 12 Years a Slave star Lupita Nyong'o.  Gurira is playing Okoye, and Nyong'o is playing Nakia - both are personal bodyguards of T'Challa.

In Captain America: Civil War, Freeman's Everett Ross was introduced to the Deputy Task Force Commander of the Joint Counter Terrorist Centre. While the extent of his role in Black Panther is still unknown, we can expect it to be much bigger, considering his history with the superhero in the comics.
