Thanos and Nebula: Karen Gillan Teases a Confrontation

Introduced as a villain in Guardians of the Galaxy, Nebula revealed that she bears a grudge against both her sister Gamora and her adoptive father Thanos. In the sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2, it became clear that she was quite traumatized by the Mad Titan's methods for raising children. But after she confronted her sister, she also joined the Guardians.

So what will happen next? We've seen that Nebula is now on good terms with her sister. All she needed to do was open up. But what’s going to happen when she meets the Mad Titan’s other adoptive children, the Black Order? Will her issues with her father remain unresolved? Or will she personally confront Thanos?

Nebula (Marvel)

During an interview with Den of Geek, actress Karen Gillan said that her character was building toward this final confrontation, in which she’ll face the trauma of her upbringing. This means that she’ll have to go up against Thanos. Like her confrontation with Gamora, this one is almost guaranteed to be physical:

I've been sworn to secrecy. But I think that all of what we've been building toward, with all the backstories between Nebula and Thanos, is going to come to a head in the Avengers film, and she's going to confront all of those traumatic memories. I definitely think she is going to have her moment.

Thanos (Marvel)

Of course, Thanos is no Gamora. He’ll show no mercy, so we doubt that things will end well for Nebula. Her life in the MCU may be cut short. But when will the two meet? Since Gillan is currently shooting Avengers 4, we guess that we'll wait a bit longer to see this reunion take place.
