James Mangold Teases More X-23 Adventures

Regarded as one of the best comic book movies ever, Logan marked not just Hugh Jackman’s final outing as Wolverine, but also the debut of X-23, another fan-favorite comic book character. Portrayed by Dafne Keen, young Laura stole the show every time, whether she was fighting or not. Despite the fact that the movie takes place in the future (even further into the future than the events of X-Men: Days of Future Past), the fans started to speculate that X-23 should appear in other X-Men related films.

James Mangold agreed at one point, and the actress’ audition tape showcases her potential.

At a one-off theatrical screening of Logan Noir (the black-and-white version will be included with the Logan Blu-ray), James Mangold reiterated that there’s a distinct possibility that Dafne Keen will return in a future X-Men Universe movie. He had previously said that sequels wouldn't be connected to the other X-Men movies (meaning that it will have the same type of connection as Logan), but he didn't mention anything about this during the Q & A session:

Anything’s possible. I’ve certainly talked to them about it. I even talked to them about it before we made the movie. I thought she was just such a great character, but with what Dafne did, I think that’s certainly possible (via Movie Web).

So, an X-23 movie could happen, especially since the character escaped with her young mutant friends after Logan's sacrifice.

But that’s not the only possibility, especially since Deadpool 2 will introduce the time-traveling mutant Cable. This would be a golden opportunity to bring X-23 into the actual X-Men timeline, rather than leaving her at the edges.
