Hugh Jackman Resumes All The Hot Stuff About Wolverine, X-Men Universe And Deadpool Cameo

Hugh Jackman - Wolverine

Hugh Jackman made history: everyone has to accept that, fans and haters of all things superhero movie alike. The announcement of his last act in the yet to be titled Wolverine sequel made, thus, quite an impression.

It did indeed, mostly that it came immediately after he said he'd play Wolverine until death. But that doesn't necessarily mean what everybody swiftly jumped to assume: that he won't be a part of the X-Men universe any longer.

Hugh Jackman's confirmation he'll retire after the last Wolverine movie is just as popular as the rumors that maintain he'll reprise his role in X-Men: Apocalypse and that he'll cameo in Deadpool.

Now, hear Hugh Jackman speak about these three issues and see if they clear something - anything - up for you!

Hugh Jackman doesn't refute cameo in Deadpool and Apocalypse

In an interview with Huffington Post, the Australian actor was asked a question everybody would die to learn the answer to: will he show up in Deadpool?

But Hugh Jackman surely masters the art of dodging a question. "˜Cause the answer goes like this: "Hmmm, I can’t … no. Nope" only to add "But, I am really good mates with [Reynolds] so …".

As to his possible role in X-Men: Apocalypse, the tone is about the same: "Who knows?". Well, someone definitely knows. And it's not us.

But what matters is Jackman didn't refute the rumors. And to not deny is to create that grey area of expectations that fuels hope.

Indeed, until someone confirms or clearly refutes Hugh Jackman's involvement - however central or peripheral - in Deadpool and X-Men: Apocalypse, I for one am not willing to give up the idea.

As to Wolverine 3"¦

Having Hugh Jackman play Wolverine for 17 years (the count he'll reach once Wolverine 3 is released) is a gain for both the superhero movie industry and for the actor's career.

Speaking of the studio, Jackman says: "They were all really supportive – 17 years is a long time," adding "I’m sure that they’ve already started casting, you know? Someone may sign up for an 11-picture deal, as we speak.

"I feel very blessed that I loved playing this part, the last ‘Wolverine’ and that last ‘X-Men’ [‘Days of Future Past’] were maybe two of the best and I feel like, hopefully, we’ll do it again with this last one.

But Wolverine 3 is still a challenge, and what happens after that is described by Hugh Jackman like this:

"There was a period about six years ago when I could see my choices being narrowed by Wolverine, but now I feel like they’ve opened up from doing ‘Les Mis’ or ‘Prisoners’ or ‘Pan.’ The options coming to me right now are more varied than they’ve ever been in my life ["¦] Hopefully, I’m not that actor in 10 years who’s unemployed going, ‘Why did I ever leave it?’ and then begging to come back.

Finally, "Weirdly, I’m really excited about shooting it. I feel great enthusiasm, I suppose it’s denial — like the football player who announces their retirement before their last season — and so I’m really looking forward to it. But, I know it’s not over yet! I still got a lot of 4 o’clock mornings and a hell of a lot of egg white omelettes and steamed chicken to have, and all of that.
