Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 wrapped up its filming a couple of months ago, but it isn't hitting the theaters anytime sooner than May 5, 2017 - it's almost eight months away. While the wait for the movie might seem bitter now, its fruit is definitely going to be very sweet. That's what Chris Pratt seems to indicate in a recent interview with the Toronto Sun.
Claiming that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is "going to be terrific", the actor, who plays Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, adds:
I'm already so proud of it. We worked really hard on it and it's a joy to be part of. It's a fabulous script. I think it's going to be – I'm not using hyperbole, here – I think it's going to be the biggest spectacle movie of all time.
With superhero movies breaking box office records every now and then, many complain about these movies wrecking the movie-going experience. Some are even waiting desperately for the day when general audiences turn their backs on superhero movies. But Pratt doesn't seem concerned about it at all. When the issue is addressed, the 37-year-old actor jokes, "I'm okay with it."
Pratt thinks he's "fortunate", as he believes that being part of Guardians of the Galaxy is being part of "a franchise that really is so totally different". He explains:
It's new and exciting and unlike anything people had seen before. There are a lot of superheroes out there, but I think we do something a little different. The genesis of these characters was in the Marvel Universe, but we do something a little different, more cosmic, with Guardians of the Galaxy.
The actor doesn't give away any spoilers on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, as Marvel has instructed the cast "not to say anything". He only repeats tidbits that we already know, like Kurt Russell playing Star-Lord's father Ego The Living Planet; Thanos not appearing in the movie; and the trailer arriving before Christmas.
