Guardians of the Galaxy 2: Stallone's Role Revealed?

Five of the original Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 team members will return in the movie’s sequel. James Gunn has added some new characters to the roster, and several major stars have joined the cast, including Kurt Russell as Ego. But we still haven't learned the identity of Sylvester Stallone’s character.

We did hear that he would have an important role. But how important?

Tango and Cash (GrantLand)

According to Movies Book IT, the Tango and Cash actor will play none other than Stakar Ogord, aka Starhawk. In the comics, the anti-hero has immense power, and is even able to go up against Thor. He can also remember events from previous life cycles, which can be equated to precognition, and he uses this skill to change things for the better, even if the memories are often unreliable.

Movies Book IT made this announcement on Twitter, and it can traced to speculation that originated with MCU Exchange, a website that had previously hinted at Stallone's role. So take it with a grain of salt, since Marvel hasn't confirmed anything just yet.

However, if Stallone does indeed portray Starhawk, the character’s powers and abilities (especially his precognition) could influence the outcome of future MCU events, such as Ragnarok and even Infinity War.

It remains to be seen whether or not he’s playing Stakar, who’s said to be a Ravager in the MCU. In the comics, he’s a descendent from the future of Kismet and Ayesha (Elizabeth Debiki plays Ayesha in Guardians of the Galaxy 2).
