Martin Freeman's addition to Civil War cast was received with great enthusiasm.
It's not only the words of Marvel boss Kevin Feige ("We couldn't be more honored or excited to have such a talented actor join the Marvel Cinematic Universe") that prove Martin Freeman is a winning card for the MCU.
Fans have readily accepted The Hobbit star is a great addition that will undeniably enrich the cinematic universe. But, of course, the obvious question remains: what part will he play?
We previously got word from Latino Review that Freeman will portray a certain "Everett Ross, a US Government agent assigned to Wakanda who grows to become sort of a Wakandan expert".

Latino Review reports: "["¦] Martin Freeman is playing a character named Edward Chase, the Prime Minister of England in the MCU".
How come?
"Whatever mission goes south for Captain America’s Avengers at the beginning of the movie will involve a number of British soldiers, so Chase (Freeman) will be responsible for upping the pressure on the government side, even though it is an international government body".
To what end, I might ask? "Chase will be arguing for a better world-wide plan to keep The Avengers in check".
But the theory doesn't stop here. Latino Review also maintains Edward Chase was cannily introduced to the MCU in Age of Ultron.

While watching, that particular scene before Klaw is interrupted by Ultron seemed of little to no importance for the movie. But in retrospect, boy, it looks like an Easter Egg shooting out fireworks.
Klaw clearly says to its interlocutor: "Now, Minister, where were we?". Ok, duly noted. But why would the Prime Minister of England talk to a villain of Ulysses Klaw's ilk?
According to the cited source, Edward Chase is "trying to collect Vibranium to make weapons that the English can use to combat the increasing number of people with superpowers throughout the world".
We can easily infer what that means: he's no superhero fan, which makes him a villain of sorts, even if not a clear-cut one like the Red Skull, Baron Zemo or other agents of Hydra.
So, are you ready to see Martin Freeman playing a bad guy? Surely his roles in The Hobbit and Sherlock must have made you grow fond of the actor. Will that change if he turns out to be a corrupt politician having dealings with people on the wrong side of the law?
