Fox’s Untitled X-Men Series Casts Polaris and Some Original Characters!

Twentieth Century Fox Television and Marvel Television are collaborating on a new X-Men series for FoxMatt Nix will act as showrunner and Bryan Singer will direct the pilot episode. Last month, the series added Jamie Chung as fan-favorite mutant Blink and Blair Redford as an original mutant named Sam. Since then, several more roles - including the Marvel Comics character Lorna Dane, (aka Polaris) - have been filled.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Emma Dumont, a series regular on ABC Family’s Bunheads (Melanie Segal) and NBC’s Aquarius (Emma Karn), will portray the mutant in the untitled X-Men series. Dumont’s version of Polaris won't be Magneto's daughter, but it appears that her powers will be similar to those of her comic book counterpart.

 a strong-willed, brave and loyal mutant, who has the ability to manipulate magnetism.

The outlet also revealed two more additions to the cast roster. Angel and Person of Interest star Amy Acker will play Kate Stewart, the show’s leading female role. The original character is described as follows:

a woman who is struggling with her separation from her husband, Reed (Stephen Moyer) and her increasingly challenging teenage children. When her family situation takes a dark turn, she finds that she's stronger than she thinks.

Murdoch Mysteries and Between star Percy Hynes White will portray Andy:

...a sensitive kid and bit of a loner, who keeps to himself to avoid the turmoil he faces at school and at home.

English actor Stephen Moyer, who portrayed vampire Bill Compton for all seven seasons of HBO's True Blood, will play male lead Reed Stewart. Deadline describes the character as follows:

an ambitious attorney trying to balance the demands of his job at the DA’s office with his responsibilities to his family.

Later, the same outlet broke the story that Reign and Incorporated star Sean Teale had joined the series as Marcos Diaz, whose mutant alter-ego is Eclipse. Marcos, an original character created exclusively for this series, is a natural rebel and a passionate, strong-willed fighter. But while he's occasionally forced by circumstance to cooperate with others, at other times he lets his emotions negate reason. As Eclipse, he possesses “the ability to absorb and manipulate photons".

Lastly, Natalie Alyn Lind (Gotham and The Goldbergs) has been cast as Lauren. Variety reports:

smart, pretty, popular, organized, and already ahead on her college applications, she is the model of a perfect kid.
