Tim Burton's Batman may have joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the Vulture, but don't expect Christopher Nolan's Batman to do the same, because Christian Bale is has no interest in following in Michael Keaton's footsteps.
The star of The Dark Knight Trilogy recently sat down with Steve Weintraub from Collider to talk about his recently released project, The Promise. At one point, Weintraub asked whether Bale would like to work with Marvel Studios or in another superhero movie. Bale's response:
No, I'm not interested in doing that. I've never seen "” I'm trying to think if that's correct, I think I'm actually correct, I can't remember a single superhero film that I've ever watched. Apart from the ones I made and like, the Christopher Reeve Superman films.
When Weintraub asked about the Richard Donner-directed Superman movies starring Christopher Reeve, the 43-year-old actor answered:
Yes. Yes, I love those. Other than that, no I've never seen anything.

The interviewer then mentioned the rising popularity of the superhero genre on both the small and big screens, but even that wouldn't entice the Academy Award winning actor into considering a return to the genre. Bale stated:
Right. Yes. I have no understanding of it, and I'm completely blind to it.
So Marvel can no longer expect Christian Bale to sign on for a role, but they’ll certainly continue to add other big stars. In a recent interview with Fandango, Kevin Feige promised that more iconic stars such as Kurt Russell and Sylvester Stallone will join the MCU in the near future. As for Bale, maybe he’ll watch a superhero movie or two sometime and have a change of heart. Who knows?
