Feige Confirms Fan-Favorite Spider-Man Character in the MCU

A couple of days ago, we learned about a number of new Spider-Man: Homecoming characters, including the return of Pepper Potts and the addition of Jennifer Connelly as the voice of Spider-Man's suit AI. Also, it was revealed that Scorpion exists in the MCU, and that there are indeed two versions of The Shocker in the film.

Additionally, Betty Brant will appear, and, in a major twist, the presence of  a certain Disney actress was spoiled. However, the most interesting reveal concerns a character that fans have speculated about since an actor’s participation was announced.

Spider-Man and Iron Man (Marvel)

It’s been confirmed that Donald Glover will indeed play Aaron Davis, aka the villain Prowler. Davis happens to be Miles Morales’ uncle, who played an essential role in transforming Miles Morales into the new Spider-Man in the comics.

Might this also be the case in the MCU? Kevin Feige clarified:

All of those little things are just Easter eggs for fans, until they're something more than that. But anything that's happened in the books is potential material for us. In the meantime, I think Miles is a big part of the animated movie that Sony's making. But wherever we go…we definitely want you to go, "He's there. He's there somewhere (Screen Crush).”

Basically, this confirms that Miles Morales has a place in the MCU! Of course, no one said with any certainty that he would become Spider-Man in the future, but Feige clearly said that it was possible!

During an interview with Screen Rant, Tom Holland said that he’d be game for mentoring Miles as he becomes a superhero (it didn't happen this way in the comics, but still…):

That would be something that I would be very up for doing, it's something that I would really hope to happen. Miles Morales is a great character. It would be fantastic to have an actor of color playing a superhero on screen, and I just think it's going to be something very cool and something very exciting for this universe.

We’ll see how many additional Easter eggs show up when Spider-Man: Homecoming is released on the 7th of July.
