Doctor Strange: Illuminati Plans Confirmed

Doctor Strange will hit US theaters at the beginning of November. There are quite a few fans out there who are excited about this, with the main reason being that this movie will be the first to bring real magic into the MCU. Of course, there are also the Benedict Cumberbatch fans who want to see the star finally in a superhero role, as well as those who expect to see how the story will connect to the Infinity War.

But now there is another reason to be excited about the release of Doctor Strange. During a recent interview with Screen Rant, Benedict Cumberbatch revealed some of the future plans for the MCU. And, as expected, they don't include the Avengers.

The actor said that he’s excited to see where this year's story will lead and what Doctor Strange will do next. He also said that new groups of superheroes can be formed, although he didn't say when and where. Here’s the full quote:

I think playing any iconic role when you're stepping into big shoes, into the shadow of people who have come before you, and you can't process that in a movie-to-movie basis"¦I'm excited to see where the Illuminati and whatever else might happen, how that works, and where it ends up (Screen Rant).

Basically, this confirms that the Avengers will be replaced by the Illuminati sometime after the Infinity War. Doctor Strange is a member of this team - just like some other characters. But is this also a confirmation that Marvel/Disney are in talks with Fox over the rights for Mister Fantastic and Professor X? It might be, considering that these two are founding members of the team.

Also, to be noted, Black Bolt is also a founding member of the Illuminati. So this will certainly spark the rumor that the Inhumans project will come to life after 2019.
