Deadpool 2 and Dark Phoenix Finish Shooting

For the first time ever, 20th Century Fox will release three X-Men related movies in one year. The highly anticipated X-Men: New Mutants, Deadpool 2, and X-Men: Dark Phoenix are all scheduled for release in 2018. New Mutants marks yet another genre-mixing film, as evidenced by the teaser trailer; Cable will make his big-screen debut in Deadpool 2; and Dark Phoenix will be the studio’s second attempt at adapting the beloved Dark Phoenix Saga.

The first New Mutants teaser trailer demonstrated that Josh Boone created a horror flick, which surprised everybody (for better or worse). Shooting is complete for both Deadpool 2 and X-Men: Dark Phoenix, so we can expect to see footage from those movies soon.

First-time director Simon Kinberg announced via his Instagram account that the Dark Phoenix production was complete. This may be his first movie, but principal photography went as smoothly as possible, which is an indication that Kinberg has what it takes to be a director:

That’s a wrap. #darkphoenix #xmenmovies 11.2.18

Writer Rhett Reese tweeted that Deadpool 2 had finished shooting:

Deadpool 2 star Ryan Reynolds also made an announcement on his Instagram account, and added some praise for director David Leitch and everyone else involved in the making of the film:

Deadpool 2 will be released on June 1, 2018. X-Men: Dark Phoenix will follow on November 2.
