Daniel Cudmore Returns in X-Men: Dark Phoenix

Although he really didn't have much to do in the previous X-Men movies, Daniel Cudmore attracted a good number of fans during his time as Colossus. He appeared in X2, The Last Stand, and X-Men: Days of Future Past, but Andre Tricoteux and Stefan Kapičić replaced him in Deadpool.

The new Colossus will appear again in next year’s Deadpool 2, so the news that Cudmore is returning to the X-Men franchise is a bit confusing. How can there be two of them? Why would the studio have two actors play the same character?

At first, the story of Cudmore's return in X-Men: Dark Phoenix was just a rumor that was sparked when someone saw the actor in Montreal while the next X-Men installment was shooting there. It became more than just speculation when a fan asked him whether he’d indeed be back as Colossus. The actor responded that he wasn’t able to comment on his character:

So he may bring a second Colossus into the X-Men universe, and he may not. But one thing is certain: Daniel Cudmore is returning to the franchise! This is great news for his fans.

Of course, since the actor didn't specify which character he’s playing, rumors have started to fly as people speculate that he’ll play a different, but still very powerful, character from the X-Men comics. And with the Shi'ar waiting to be introduced, the fans believe that Cudmore’s character will actually be Gladiator.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix will be released on November 2, 2018.
