Early predictions said that Wonder Woman would make anywhere between $65 million and $100 million, depending on the research analysts, and despite the fact that it was also named the most anticipated movie of the summer. However, now that the movie has become one of the most acclaimed superhero movies of all time, the predictors have changed their tunes. Nearly everyone is saying that the movie’s opening weekend could reach $100 million in the US alone.
We could even go so far as to say that Wonder Woman is the DC Extended Universe’s savior. We probably should have realized the impact of the character and the movie last year, when she was a main draw for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Chris Pine and Gal Gadot (Screen Rant)
Along with director Patty Jenkins and star Gal Gadot, Chris Pine (Steve Trevor), has also received love from critics. They praised him as the perfect co-star who kept the focus on the main character and never stole a scene.
During an interview with Screen Rant, the actor revealed that along with the opportunity to work with director Patty Jenkins, he was most attracted to the movie’s story, which he felt was unique within the genre:
Patty [Jenkins] was a great reason why I wanted to be involved. I met her, I hadn't read "” there was no script. Then she told me what she wanted to do: the story, my character, and Gal's character. I, like you [the interviewer], agree that within this genre, it's difficult to do something new, and usually, you just see a bunch of people killing one another "” in outfits and blowing up cities.

This can be said about any superhero movie, regardless of the specific shared universe, but Pine went a little further by providing the perfect counterexample:
Like, I know there's a thing called Infinity War, which is like, I don't "” really like Infinity War? We need more war for all time? So, I thought at the heart of this (Wonder Woman) is a woman who's about love and compassion, and love trumps all. How great is that, you know? That's a pretty crazy, awesome thing.
Of course, it seems a bit weird for him to say that, especially since Wonder Woman takes place during the War to End All Wars. Maybe Pine is poking fun at that other shared universe. However, he’s also right; Wonder Woman brings a new perspective to the comic book movie genre.
