Captain Marvel: Suit Description and Director

With a March 8, 2019 release date, Captain Marvel aims to begin shooting in early 2018. So it's no wonder that we still don’t know anything about cast, director, or plot. However, we expect this year’s ComicCon to bring some news about the film, maybe even about its director.

Journalists had the opportunity to meet the masterminds behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe before the Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 screening. Roth Cornet from Screen Junkies asked where Captain Marvel stands at this point, and Ant-Man and the Wasp director Peyton Reed responded that a director has already been chosen. Executive producer Jeremy Latcham stopped him before he could say anything further.

Brie Larson's Captain Marvel (Coming Soon)

ComicCon will almost certainly give us our first official look at Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel. Whether it will be concept art or something else remains to be seen, because concept art depicting Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel was presented prior to the GotG2 screening.

Courtesy of Nerdist, we've learned that this iteration of the character stays true to the Kelly Sue DeConnick comic book version. The suit appears to be made from form-fitting armor - with less spandex - and it covers her entire body. Furthermore, the character’s iconic sash is now a utility belt:

The first two featured Brie Larson in her costume, which appears to draw heavy inspiration from her classic comics suit. Though the design kept Captain Marvel’s signature eight-pointed star emblem square on the chest, its look and feel were more akin to Ant Man’s suit than Iron Man’s. Like a form-fitting armor, her suit is less spandex, and more military grade, covering her whole body. Her iconic sash is more of a utility belt, favoring function over form. In the concept art, she stands tall, staring off into the distance, looking hopeful, but tough.

Another piece of concept art showcased Captain Marvel in battle against what looked like a Kree sentry.
