Black Widow in Civil War – The Mediator!

Black Widow in Civil War

Whose side is Black Widow on? We know the answer, don't we? The character that was introduced first in Iron Man 2 is standing next to Tony Stark in Captain America: Civil War. But, Scarlett Johansson thinks that her character isn't blindly in favor of Iron Man's agenda.

Entertainment Weekly recently published an interview with the actress where she said that her character understands the point of views of her Avengers colleagues. And not only that, Black Widow acts as a go-between in Civil War! Here's what Scarlett stated:

"She's, I think, strangely, kind of the mediator. Which is not exactly how you would imagine her to be. But I think she really does see both sides of the coin and I think her strength is that she's not personally involved.

Well, in the first Civil War trailer, we do see Black Widow trying to convince Steve Rogers and that's what we had expected. Since she has had partnerships with both Tony and Steve before, it would have been surprising if she wasn't going to be the MEDIATOR! Don't you think so?

Black Widow & Tony Stark in a CIVIL WAR Scene

Natasha Romanoff and Tony Stark

Not this kind of scene though!

The magazine's website has also published a Captain America: Civil War scene that they watched being filmed during a set visit back in summer. It featured Natasha Romanoff and Tony Stark. They were given "˜an ultimatum' by the U.S. government to bring down Cap or else they would do it in "˜permanent fashion'.

In the scene, Robert Downey Jr.'s character rubs at the center of his chest, where his ARC reactor used to be embedded. He says to Scarlett's character, "You know the problem with a fully functional heart"¦? It's stressful." Black Widow responds, "We are painfully understaffed." Then Tony comments, "It'd be pretty awesome if we had a Hulk." The scene ends with further dialogues.

How is she after he left?

One would expect Black Widow to stay disturbed by Bruce Banner's departure in the end scene of Avengers: Age of Ultron. We saw them coming close to each other during that movie. So, how is Natasha doing after Banner has moved away to isolation? Here's what Scarlett Johansson stated:

"Maybe you want to call it abandonment or whatever it is, exactly. Vulnerability, rejection. I think that you can turn inward and be very hurt and bitter and that would have been an easier choice. But she understands that Banner did what he had to do.

The actress also added that it would have been "˜out of character' if Banner's departure had made Black Widow bitter and reactive when we see her next in Civil War. However, she doesn't have any idea on if the Natasha-Banner storyline will continue in future.
