Black Panther - Does He Have a Special Ring?

Black Panther

One of the most recent bits of news concerning Black Panther suggests that we may see the previous wearer of the mantle in the solo flick. And we already saw such a connection during Civil War, when T'Challa himself became the ruler of Wakanda, after his father was killed.

One of the most popular theories on the web, at this moment, concerns a particular scene from Civil War, in which Bucky clashes with Black Panther. After his father is killed, T'Challa wears his ring. And then, when he fights Bucky, it appears as if Black Panther's inherited ring cannot come into contact with the Winter Soldier's metallic arm.

Obviously, there is a simple explanation to this, given the strength Bucky possesses in his arm - T'Challa is simply unable to stop him, and that is why it appears as if the ring is magnetic. However, the Russos have recently tackled this subject, and, instead of debunking the rumor (as everybody was expecting), they only deepened the mystery.

Anthony Russo said that the ring is indeed symbolic, being in a way the symbol of power in Wakanda. But then he adds something else. Check it out:

Black Panther's ring is special to him because it was worn by his father, the king. When he puts it on for the first time in Civil War, it's symbolic of him taking on his father's role. As for its powers, we will all have to wait for the Black Panther movie (via CBM).

It's pretty weird, right? The answer to this seemed so simple at first. And then came the director, and he baffled everybody. Is the ring really made from Antarctic Vibranium? It could be so - after all, the Wakandans had plenty of time to develop it.

What do you think?
