Amber Heard in Talks to Play Aquaman's Love Interest MERA!

Amber Heard in talks to join as Mera!

Back in November last year, we heard a rumor that Aquaman's love interest Mera is set to join the DC Extended Universe. According to the rumor, the character was about to make her debut in the July 18, 2018 release - Aquaman - and would play an important role in the movie. It also suggested that Warner Bros are looking for a non-white actress for the role.

Now, one of the Hollywood Bibles, The Hollywood Reporter, claims that the studio is eyeing a particular actress for the role of Mera. Contradictorily, she isn't "˜non-white' as suggested by the previous rumor. It's Amber Heard according to the website! According to their sources, the actress is "˜in negotiations' to play the Queen of Atlantis. They claim to have learned this from "˜several sources'. However, Warner Bros has kept mum on the report.

In her twelve years long career, Amber Heard has played key roles in a number of movies including The Informers, The Stepfather and Zombieland. The 29-year-old actress was included FHM's 100 Sexiest Women and Maxim's Hot 100 Women lists every year from 2008 to 2012. If Amber eventually signs for the role of Mera, it will mark her first appearance in superhero movie genre.

Mera Won't Debut in Aquaman!

Mera won’t make her debut in Aquaman!

There's one more contradiction with the previous rumor! The new report states that Mera won't make her first appearance in Aquaman. Rather, the character will appear eight months onward in Justice League – Part One. The November 17, 2017 release will kick off its filming this April. So, we can pretty much assume that they won't take much time to close the deal.

The website is obviously far more reliable than the previous one - they hardly report something with no truth behind. But still, to avoid frustration, one should take it with a pinch of salt!

However, do share whether you consider Amber Heard perfect for the role of Mera!
