AKA Jessica Jones

Comic book adaptations work not just on the silver screens - television has also proved to be a perfect medium for such stories to be brought to life. Jessica Jones will see this treatment too, being one of the Marvel series announced about a year ago.

But now it is for certain - the series will premiere in 2015. Although an exact date isn't known, it is almost certain that the show will debut after Marvel releases yet another series, Daredevil.

Furthermore, an actress was also officially announced for the lead role - and this actress is Krysten Ritter.

Who is Jessica Jones?

One of the lesser known superheroines, Jessica Jones is a former superheroine that decided to hand her cape and become a private investigator.

After a tragic accident (which involved a military convoy and some chemicals), her parents are killed and she is left in a coma - after awakening, Jessica Jones realizes that those chemicals transformed her. She now has super strength, that she is almost invulnerable, and that she can fly.

Her career as a superheroine was hidden under several aliases (ALIAS also being the name of the series in which the character debuted), including in here Power Woman, Jewel and Knightress.

After taking down a supervillain, she decided to become a private investigator.

Who is Krysten Ritter?

While the fans might know her just from Breaking Bad, there is much more to the young actress: from TV shows to TV movies to big screen outings, the Jessica Jones actress has done it all. Among the movies in which she played, 27 Dresses and Veronica Mars can be mentioned.

Why Jessica Jones? Why such a TV show?

As everybody knows, Marvel always plans ahead - Jessica Jones is just one of the series announced by the studio, another one being Luke Cage. Just referring to these two, Jessica and Luke are one of Marvel's most beloved couples and they have popped-up all over the comic book universe.

In a way, even if they are lesser-known superheroes, they are still beloved by the fans.
